Message	If he won't make it right, contact the Better Business Bureau, as well as the Attorney General's office. If you were still "Buddies" you wouldn't even have to go there. The choice is his to make right. Are your parts still usable? Get your $3k back, it is going to cost you more to get this fixed, I'd guess. Sounds like you would have been better off not having anything done at his shop at all.
